[it all feels like a blur to Maria. she had ridden in the ambulance with him and everybody kept asking her questions. how did she know him, did she know how he got there, and how long he had been missing? at the hospital she couldn't be with him until she was told and so she kept talking to the police. some higher ups than the assholes she'd been talking to before. she explained she'd been telling the police she thought her boyfriend was missing and in danger but nobody had been taking her seriously. any suspicion that had been aimed at her was removed.
they tell her she can sit with him though they assure her he might stay asleep for a while. his body had gone through a lot and they told her they can't tell her everything, legally she has no rights to this information. Maria feels like she might go crazy not knowing what happened but she stays happy knowing he's here. he's alive.
he was hooked up to an IV to get the nutrients he was desperately lacking and when he does wake up, she gasps and gets him water they had brought. there's a straw and she sits up offering him the water.]
